Prof. Shadmand will serve as Principal Investigator for Development of PKC and PUF-Based Authentication and Secret Key Establishment in Smart Grid funded by U.S. Department of Energy

US DOE project 2

IPEG Research lab to investigate the security vulnerabilities of existing standards by integrating authentication, secret key establishment, and encryption-based secure communication mechanisms with existing standards for reliable authentication and communication between smart grid nodes, inverters’ gateways, and other grid-edge devices.

The project entitled “PKC and PUF-Based Authentication and Secret Key Establishment in Smart Grid” is selected for funding by U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for $3.9 Million (2024-2027). The project collaborators are Kansas State University, University of Illinois Chicago, Florida International University, Florida Power & Light, National Instrument and Testforce.
