Prof. Shadmand will serve as Principle Investigator for a U.S. National Science Foundation Collaborative Project.

Prof. Shadmand (PI) at UIC in collaboration with Prof. Livani (PI) and Prof. Ben-Idris (Co-PI) at the University of Nevada Reno awarded a U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) project to develop data-driven situational awareness for the resilient operation of distribution networks with Inverter-based distributed energy resources. The goal of this collaborative project is to combine artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning with power systems and power electronics concepts to design novel situational awareness and corrective action identification tools for reliable, resilient operation of distribution networks with a high penetration of inverter-based DERs.
