Prof. Shadmand is awarded the 2024 IEEE J. David Irwin Early Career Award for his outstanding contribution in “resiliency and cybersecurity of power electronics dominated grids”.

This award recognizes a young researcher who has made significant contributions to the advancement of the industrial electronics field and is within his/her first 10 years of professional experience from the date of his/her last academic degree. The awardee is selected based on the technical importance of the contribution, subject matter, originality, and prospects for future success.

 

Dr. Mohammad B. Shadmand has made significant contributions to the advancement of industrial electronics, particularly in enhancing the resilience and cybersecurity of Power Electronics-Dominated Grids (PEDG). Through an innovative research program, Dr. Shadmand has pioneered the integration of self-learning power electronics, intrusion detection systems, and advanced resilient control schemes to address critical challenges of next generation power grid dominated by inverters. He has authored many publications with more than 160 journal and conference papers, all refereed, and 3 book chapters in total. Dr. Shadmand has supervised or is currently supervising 20 Ph.D. and M.S. students.
