Six IPEG PhD students are going to present their latest research outcomes under Prof. Shadmand’s supervision in the 2021 IEEE 12th International Symposium on Power Electronics for Distributed Generation Systems (PEDG 2021)!

PEDG 2021

We are delighted to announce that six Ph.D. students of the IPEG research lab under Prof. Shadmand's supervision are going to present their latest research outcomes in the 2021 IEEE 12th International Symposium on Power Electronics for Distributed Generation Systems (PEDG 2021).

  • Ahmad Khan and his co-author Mohsen Hosseinzadehtaher will present their latest article entitled, "Proactive Intrusion Detection System for Virtual Power Plants based on Real-Time Normal Operation Regions Identification",  which will provide a new perspective on malicious activities detection in real-time for virtual power plants.
  • Amin Y. Fard and his co-author Mohsen Hosseinzadehtaher will present their latest conference paper entitled, "Post-cyberattack Solution for Power Electronics Dominated Grid via Distributed Control of Smart Inverters with Minimal Communication", which provides a control framework for a clustered grid after the integrity of the supervisory layer is not trustable anymore with a reduction in required communications.
  • Anas Karaki will present his paper entitled, "Virtual Inertia Emulation Inspired Predictive Control to Improve Frequency Stability in Power Electronics Dominated Grid", which addresses the low inertia issue and its effects on frequency stability for a grid with high power-electronics-interfaced resources as main energy providers via emulating virtual inertia.
  • Berevann Nun and his co-authors Muhammad Farooq Umar and Anas Karaki will present their latest research outcome in the paper entitled, "Rank-Based Predictive Control Framework for Community Microgrids with Dynamic Reconfigurations and Multiple Points of Common Coupling", which presents a framework for ranking microgrids with diffrent PCCs using predictive control to ensure reconfiguration of the community microgrids in a dynamic manner.
  • Mohsen Hosseinzadehtaher and his co-author Amin Y. Fard will present their latest paper entitled, "Artificial Intelligence Inspired Model Predictive Control for Frequency Regulation in Power Electronics Dominated Grids", which brings applications of artificial intelligence (AI) into frequency stability of a low-inertia grid with high penetration of power-electronics-based resources.
